At the invitation of Madame la Bourgmestre, Caroline TAQUIN, a delegation from the Courcelles de France visited Courcelles de France on 16 December 2014 in Courcelles, Belgium. The welcome, in this city of 30,500 inhabitants, was very warm and constructive. Our President Dominique FLABOT was of course present, as well as representatives of the communes of Courcelles- Chaussy, Courcelles le Comte, Courcelles sur Nied, Courcelles sur Ore and Courcelles-Sapicourt.

After the speeches, and a pot of friendship that allowed to appreciate the local specialties (Beer, pâté, chocolate with the coat of arms of the city …), a meal was served at the Cultural Center. The day ended with a visit to the Christmas market. A beautiful day. Thank you again to our guests!

(Under the photographs of this day, you will find a poem by Mr. Marquis Olivier de Trazegnies)

Poem by Marquis Olivier de Trazegnies about the meeting of the Courcelles of France and Belgium, on December 16, 2014 in the Town Hall.

For a long time I will keep the image of Courcelles
Deep in my mind and especially among
those
Expressing from a place all that respect

Must of calm courage and desire for peace.

There are many of you, courcelles of the world.
Could it be thanks to you that our land is round?
In an ancient village where black holes once
Have mixed the penalty with false hopes,

It's the patient work of men and women,
Animated inside by invisible flames
Who slowly will bring to the heart
From our old Hainaut a new ardour.

And so grateful, all thank you
For w
arming me to this sizzling fire,
Above
all, I remember the charm of a welcome
Wh
ere the dead man chose to burn his coffin.

Olivier de Trazegnies
